Q47, run 2026-11-06-0855-sonnet
Why do Kesting University and Rostval Technical University swap places in 2024 between full and fractional counting?
Tests: Counting method: why the ranking flips.
Expected: Rostval is on four 2024 works (W21, W27, W28, W29), but on each it has one author of four: 4 x 1/4 = 1. Kesting is on three, with larger shares: W22 alone, half of W20, two of the four authors of W21: 2.
csv+axioms run 1
I09 appears on more 2024 works, but as one of four authors each time, so it earns 0.25 per work. Kesting has fewer works but larger shares, including W22 where it is the sole author, so it leads under fractional counting.
Why: Gives the quarter-share point for Rostval (I09) and Kesting's larger shares including sole-author W22, but omits that Kesting holds half of W20 and W21.
csv+axioms run 2
I09's 4 works in 2024 (W21, W27, W28, W29) each give it only one author share out of four, so it scores 1.0 under fractional counting. I07's three works (W20, W21, W22) have fewer co-authors, so it scores 2.0. I09 leads on full counting (4 against 3), and I07 leads on fractional counting.
Why: Gives the quarter-share point for Rostval (I09) but doesn't say W22 is single-author or that Kesting holds half of W20 and W21; it only says 'fewer co-authors'.
csv+axioms run 3
Under full counting, I09 gets a whole work for each of its 4 papers, which is more than Kesting's 3. Under fractional counting, each of I09's papers has four authors and gives it only 0.25 (1.0 in total). Kesting's W22 is single-authored and counts fully, so it reaches 2.0.
Why: Gives Rostval's four-author quarter shares (1.0 total) and notes W22 single-author for Kesting, but omits Kesting's half shares of W20 and W21; the 2.0 total is only partly explained.
csv+axioms run 4
Under full counting, I09 appears on four 2024 works to I07's three. Each of I09's four works is shared among four authors, so it earns only 0.25 each, 1 in total. I07 has the sole-authored W22 and the half-share W20, so it ends with 2.
Why: Correctly gives Rostval's quarter-shares, but the Kesting side omits W21's half-share, so its total of 2 doesn't follow from the works it cites (1 + 0.5 = 1.5).
csv+axioms run 5
Under full counting each work counts once, so I09 leads with 4 against 3. Under fractional counting I09's four works are each shared among four authors and give 0.25 each. I07 gets 1 for the single-author W22 and 0.5 each from W20 and W21, so I07 leads.
csv+axioms+markdown run 1
Under full counting, I09 wins because it appears on 4 works in 2024 (W21, W27, W28, W29) against 3 for I07. Under fractional counting, each of I09's four works has 4 authors with only one from Rostval, giving 1.0 in total. I07 holds a full share of W22 and half shares of W20 and W21, giving 2.0.
csv+axioms+markdown run 2
Rostval has more works (4 vs 3), but each has one Rostval author out of four, so each gives only 0.25. Kesting has fewer works but larger shares: W22 is single-authored (1) and W20 and W21 give 0.5 each. That gives Kesting 2.0 against Rostval's 1.0.
csv+axioms+markdown run 3
Full counting gives each institution a whole work, so I09 leads with 4 works against 3. Under fractional counting, I09's four works (W21, W27, W28, W29) are each shared among four authors, so it gets 0.25 each, 1.0 in total. Kesting's total is 2.0, from W22 as sole author (1) and W20 (0.5), plus its W21 authors A10 and A09 (0.25 each).
csv+axioms+markdown run 4
Rostval has more works in 2024 (4 against 3), but its works are shared among four authors each, so it gets only 0.25 per work. Kesting has W22 as a sole author and W20 split in half, which gives it more fractional credit.
Why: Rostval's quarter-share per work is correct (four authors, one from Rostval), but Kesting's shares are only partly given: W22 sole-authored and W20 half are mentioned, W21 half is missing.
csv+axioms+markdown run 5
In full counting Rostval has 4 works (W21, W27, W28, W29) against Kesting's 3 (W20, W21, W22). Rostval's authors are only one of four on each of its works, so each work earns 0.25. Kesting's W22 is single-authored and W20 gives 0.5, so Kesting totals 2.0 against Rostval's 1.0.
